Thanks again Anthony for rolling out this story week by week. I was unable to make a comment on the Curiosity Quills site (comment section wouldn't load) so will let you know here how much I am enjoying the story as it unfolds. Can hardly wait for the next instalment Leslie

A poignant comment on JWsurvey.org from a nonJW regarding Sparlock
by cedars ini woke up this morning to find the following comment had been left on jwsurvey.org on my article entitled "watchtower's new 'toy story' - what parents need to know".
it read as follows.... .
my grandson, who is 3, was telling me magic is bad several times a day.

(haha RIP just the dreaded blank post)
I have great sympathy for the grandmother. It is hard not to say, "do what you can to unindoctrinate the grandchild ", knowing what we know about the WT and its damaging effects. As was pointed out it is the parents choice how to raise their child, whether we agree or not. If the shoe were on the other foot and it was the grandmother who was the JW we would tell her to butt out. It may not be fair but unless there is a law aginst it there really is not much she can do. Trying to approach her daughter to 'gently' reason with her is probably her best option. To confront her outrightly will only put up the wall and reinforce her belief that this must be the truth because I was told I would be opposed. A really heart-breaking situation for all involved. My story :)
by Matsimus ini was born into a family already some generations into jehovah's organization.
from the time i was four years old i can remember my birthday being no more significant than me turning four years old.
later i saw the significanse of it when my classmates had their birthdays, but i knew it was wrong.

Welcome Matsimus. Thankyou for telling your story. I am happy for you that you have had your father to talk to about basically anything and everything. It is good to hear that your mother is out as well. All we can do is hope that our loved ones will in time see the truth about the WT, while we continue to grow as individuals in the meantime. Leslie

Welcome Backrow: I think your hubby is a Witness in name only for the reason you gave, namely, he doesn't want to disappoint his mother.
Perhaps when he is finished school you could move somewhere where he won't have to keep up the pretense. It is probably easier now for him to use schooling as an excuse but when that's over he will have to decide if he wants to continue the charade.
You've come to the right place where you can find helpful suggestions to get him out of this Cult permanently. So very glad to hear that you were not dragged into this destructive religion. Good Luck Leslie

12/15/12 Watchower Study Edition - Higher Eduction = Thinking in a "complicated" manner
by yourmomma ini found this quote from the 12/15/12 p.29 study edition of the watchtower to be hilarious:.
"a college graduate in the united states.
says: i spent 18 years speaking and writing.

If this person was already a witness it is obvious that higher education did not cause her to leave the Borg. Either way, a stupid example. -Leslie-

Would this Sister's name be Andre(a) by any chance? LOL
I find it interesting that this person had years of higher education and still became a witness. So...if someone with higher education comes into "the truth" why the fear of higher education for Jdubs? This is a very contradictory experience to use IMO. my 2 cents. Leslie

Jehovah's Witnesses cease to exist before the year 2000
by rory-ks inseptember 1st, 2012, can be marked down in the theocratic calendar as the day the watchtower bible and tract society marched shamelessly into the 21st century.
on that day, jw.org, official website of jehovah's witnesses, went live, and with one strike the organisation put a match to its past.. .
seek out the society's online library, its searchable database of publications, and you will soon see that it has only made available literature published since the year 2000. inclusion of the generic work, insight on the scriptures, is of no consequence.

They STILL might be DFing me soon for apostasy...
by RayPublisher inbig news - i met with the elders last night.
they were not arrogant and they were not mean spirited, but of course we all know they also would not budge from the jw brainwashed beliefs they are sworn to uphold.
i let my light shine, and within two minutes of sitting down with them was no longer nervous.. .

WOW! You have my admiration for your courage to present the information to them so honestly. I am surprised you did not get the boot then and there. Perhaps the elders want to look up some of the things you said. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. Maybe, just maybe you were able to reach at least one of them and they will see the light also. Best of luck. Leslie
